About: About

Willow Tree and me

My name is Syreeta and I am the owner of Willow Tree.  I have three children, my eldest is a network engineer and is my IT expert, my daughter is studying Children's Nursing at university and also holds a Level 3 Childcare qualification and my youngest is at secondary school, working hard on his GCSEs.  I also have three stepchildren, who are all equally as busy finding their way in the world, but still finding time to pop along and help out in the building, assembling flat pack and clearing the garden.  Last but not least, my husband is my biggest supporter.  As well as being very busy with his own work, he still supports me anyway he can.  His first contribution to Willow Tree can been seen in my blog, our fabulous mud kitchen and I have a whole list of ideas and creations for him to pull together for me.  I think he will be seeing building pallets in his dreams!

When my first son was born, just over 20 years ago I started working as a childminder, which I did for 4 years.  I then started working for a local authority as an Early Childhood Specialist, a job that I have loved every minute of!  Over the years, I have visited so many nurseries, childminders, preschools and out of school clubs to provide support, advice and guidance that I have been able to really think about the type of nursery that I want to create.  My 17 years in the LA role has provided countless training opportunities that stand me in good stead for providing high quality childcare, along with my practical experience and qualifications, my most recent being an MA in Childhood and Youth.

I am a qualified trainer and deliver on a variety of Early Years courses including Safeguarding, Supporting Children with English as an Additional Language, School Readiness and Behaviour Management.  I have also tutored for the NCMA (National Childminding Association) training new childminders and I have taught on the Open University Early Years degree.

Above all else, I am a mum and I know how hard it can be to put your child in someone elses care.  I know the sense of relief at finding childcare that's right for you and lets you feel at ease when you drop your child off and I know the satisfaction of picking your child up knowing that they've enjoyed their day.  This is what I will be striving to deliver, every day!
